Welcome to the Party
Definition: e-la-tion
A feeling or state of great joy or pride; exultant gladness; high spirits.
Elation Entertainment is a full service Master of Ceremonies and DJ company that caters to the client experience. My goal is to provide you with exceptional service, quality music and an unforgettable experience.
I’ve always loved music and a great party. Growing up I was a part of several bands and played all over Seattle, Portland and Canada. With the experience of live music as well as working for several DJ/MC companies I am familiar with trouble-shooting and the vast array of venue needs.
I became a DJ/MC because I love creating a party atmosphere and enjoying great music. After marring my wife Sasha, I decided that it was time to go out on my own as an accomplished Master of Ceremonies and DJ.
Our wedding date July 16, 2005.
I grew up locally in Edmonds, WA.
Hobbies and Interests:
-Wind Surfing
-Road Trips
-Home Brew Beer Making

Having a great wireless microphone is the only way to go. I use the SHURE SM58 PGX2. It has excellent vocal clarity and a range of 300 feet. For every event I bring multiple microphones for duel announcements and backup capability.

My speakers are my pride and joy. I own the QSC K8’s. These are excellent sounding P.A. speakers. What makes these speakers special is the discreet built in 500 watts RMS amplifiers. One is for the high frequency compression driver and the other is for the mid-bass driver. The K8’s are compact and have a very wide 105 degree dispersion so everyone can enjoy the sound. The digital fan cooling gives clean sound all night long. With crystal clean sound and 127dB you and your guests will have a night to remember.

I use a hybrid system. It includes a MacBook Pro with an IPhone tethered for immediate downloads a Newmark duel CD player and Newmark mixer. I like to mix it up so I have availability to all sources of music. Newmark exclusively builds for pro-audio and they build solid reliable gear. I bring two sets of pro-mixing equipment. If requested I can set up two systems or have a back up just in case.

100% of my lighting uses LED technology. This gives me extremely reliable light that gleams clearly all night long. Another huge plus is the very low wattage use. This makes breaker popping a thing of the past. I have many different lighting packages. Call to set up your custom package.

For extra bass and fullness I recommend the subwoofer add on. My Sub is the JBL SRX 718S with the QSC RMX 2450 amp and dbx 223xl crossover. This is a true high definition deep and tight sub. It is exceptional for the low rhythm of Usher. Plus it adds to the live presence of Taylor Swift and Michael Buble. With 1400 watts RMS this sub is very impressive and it is compact enough to fit cleanly under my table / linen. You will love the clean full sound and the non obtrusive look.

How do we begin?
It all begins with a meet-and-greet. We arrange to meet in person to review your event and its details. I am always happy to accommodate wedding coordinators, party planners, parents and friends at our meet-and-greet.
At that time we will review the paperwork, establish the music selections, look at your event details and get a great feel for what type of DJ you are looking for.
From this point on, we establish an open dialog between myself and you, and your secondary contact person. Together we create a plan of action that will best fit both your needs as well as meeting your ideal party expectations.
Event Date
Once the paperwork has been signed a non-refundable deposit is required to secure your event date. The deposit will be credited towards your total. The final amount will be due two weeks before the event.
I can be involved with your ceremony, reception and event flow per request to your specifications to assist in ensuring your event transitions smoothly.
A few of the activities I am typically requested to enhance are:
-Help with music selection for the ceremony.
-Grand Entrance.
-Unique Introductions.
-Special Announcements.
-Provide games and interactive activities.
-Music selection throughout the reception.
-Timeline of traditional activities.
-Communication with event staff. (photographer, caterer, etc.)
-Flow and coordination of formal activities.
-Peace of mind on your special day.
Location
After we secure your date; I work closely with your location staff to make sure I am well versed in all of the location requirements; including any special requests, location measurements, sound requirements, set-up and tear-down time requirements, etc. This will ensure that there are no surprises on your event day so that you can enjoy a relaxing and fun experience.
Music
Music is a fundamental element in every event no matter how large or small. Together, we’ll establish a music set list that follows the theme and mood of your particular event. Your event is important to me, that is why I always keep a back-up copy of any special request(s), ceremony music, or reception songs.
In addition, I am also equipped to download requests on-the-spot so that the latest released singles or old time favorites can be requested.
A day you won’t forget ...
Each event is as unique as the individuals planning it. With a variety of group games, planned stunts, special toasts, announcements, specialty songs, and entertainment lighting your event will not only be unforgettable, but it will represent you and your personality.
Here are some questions that will assist you in making the right selection of DJ/MC. Before you choose your DJ /MC there are some fundamental questions you have to ask ... ... ...
1) How long will you be playing at our event?
2) Do you have special requests for table set-up or requirements for guests or vendors?
3) Do you have a ceremony and reception sound system?
4) Can you download songs per request?
5) Can you play special songs for the toasts, bouquet and garter toss?
6) Do you have your own linens?
7) What, if any fees are there for additional time decided at the event?
8) Are you a licensed business in the State of Washington?
9) Do you have testimonials or references?
10) Can we meet the DJ / MC in person prior to the event?

I am excited to take requests
Thursday, October 1, 2009
That’s right I love taking requests. Some DJ’s don’t. Here is why I take requests.
With a little background on me first I have access to millions of songs because I have an IPhone link tethered to my system. This enables me to download any available song within about 45 seconds. Thats right, virtually unlimited high definition digital song choices available to you in under a minute. With so many songs that I have available how do I choose which one to pick? I read the crowd and play popular songs from each style “assuming my clients have not requested me to stay away from a specific style of music” . I look at dance participation, excitement, and blend songs / move through songs at a smooth pace so one song doesn't get repetitive.
Now knowing a little about me and how I make every party a great one I make it better by taking requests. Playing a specific request can make someone’s night. Doing that a multiple times in a night makes the party great for everyone. Never fear, if someone requests a song that is inappropriate for the specific event or requests a song that the style is not getting good participation I’ll play it later in the night or on occasion not play the song that night. Having a experienced DJ that knows when not to play a song is very important.
Having a great set list is essential for you and your guests to have a blast at your party. Work with the DJ you pick and make sure you are happy with the music being played that night.
Thanks for visiting.

What to Look for in a Pet Facility for Your Big Day
Wednesday, April 1, 2009
Popular Day TriThose who frequently take trips realize just how hard it is to leave behind your little furry wonder. They are usually the life-blood that inspires, motivates and comfort us whenever we are in need. Weather it be holiday travel, a work trip or just a fun getaway here are some tips on locating a fun and safe place for your fur-baby to rest while you are away.
As a little dog, kennel-free retreat we know what to look for when the need arises. Here are some suggestions, and things to consider based on our experience.
Surroundings - How is the indoor and outdoor dog areas set up? Can they play easily, where do they eliminate and how do they get around?
Professional Care - Be sure to check how often a supervisor is with your pup or how many pups are together at any given time.
Amenities - Ask about treats that can be added to your dog’s stay package, do they give massage or anything else that may be fun to add.
Environment - Does the place look clean? How does it smell? What types of cleaning products do they use?
Friends - Ask a friend for a referral of a place they know of or even better, one they have used.
Food - Most places will request that you bring food, some allow treats, be sure to check how they monitor feeding and what they require if your pupneeds any special dietary needs or medication; which are often add-on’s to your cost.
Safety - Check to see if your dog can escape and how the facility is equipped to handle emergencies.
We advise that you research your facility prior to booking, just to make sure everything is in order. Do not hesitate to reserve a date with payment. Often times people wait too long and the facility books up.
Just a reminder, you get what you pay for. If you can’t afford to pay the fees for a specialty location try to get a trusted family member to take care of your pup. However, the bottom line may not be your budget, it just may be the assurance that you can really relax on vacation knowing your fur-baby is safe and happy.
